Make time for the water.
Kayaking & SUP Cap Guide
Choose a cap for paddling by its fit, brim and feel with the rest of your kit. Compare seated and standing positions and the conditions you plan to spend time in.
Try the cap in your paddling position
For kayaking, check your cap while seated and turning your upper body as you would during a relaxed stroke. For SUP, try the same head turns standing up and looking down. Your brim should leave a comfortable view, and the crown should stay in place without creating pressure.
Try the cap with the sunglasses and other kit you normally wear. Check the sides of your head and the closure at the back. Adjust before setting out, then reassess the shape if the fit still feels awkward. Pro covers 55–61 cm, with different crown shapes within that range.

Separate water repellency from waterproofing
Flow, Motion and Pulse have a water-repellent outer finish. This does not mean they stay dry when immersed, and the sweatband can still become damp. Aero and Focus do not have that finish. Choose with those differences in mind rather than treating every Pro model as the same water-sport cap.
An inner pocket is also a model feature, not waterproof storage. Flow, Motion and Pulse include one; Aero and Focus do not. Do not rely on a cap pocket to keep valuables dry. Nothing in the Pro comparison establishes flotation or guarantees that a cap will stay on if it goes into the water.
Choose the silhouette you will keep wearing
A raised Flow front and a flatter Motion brim give two different looks for time by the water. A soft Aero crown gives another option when packing space matters. Compare the feel while looking around and carrying your kit, rather than judging only from a front photograph.
After paddling, follow the model's care instructions and let the cap dry fully in a ventilated place. Remove salt or dirt gently as appropriate for the material. Avoid storing a damp cap in a closed bag with wet clothing, and keep structured brims supported.

Pro Flow
For a defined outdoor silhouette
55–61 cm
Flow in Seaweed Khaki features in our paddling imagery. Its raised A-frame front and curved brim give it a defined outline, with water repellency and an inner pocket. Check the fit while seated or standing with your normal eyewear.

Pro Motion
For a flat-brim direction
55–61 cm
Motion offers an angular profile and flat-brim look. Bee Yellow appears in our waterside imagery. Compare the brim with your preferred viewing angle; Motion's water-repellent finish is not a waterproof guarantee.

Pro Aero
For a soft, packable alternative
55–61 cm
Aero has a flexible low-profile crown and foldable brim. It is an alternative if that softer construction is what you enjoy wearing. It is not water-repellent and has no inner pocket, so choose it with those differences clearly in mind.

Follow the care label for your model. At Blackskies, our post-sport routine for Flow, Motion, Pulse and Aero is to rinse the cap with clean water and leave it to air dry. Let the sweatband dry completely before storage, support the cap’s normal shape and avoid direct heat.
For Focus and for other materials, check the model-specific guidance rather than assuming the same routine applies. Our cap care guide explains the differences across Pro, Originals and Family.
Are Pro caps waterproof?
No waterproof guarantee is made here. Flow, Motion and Pulse are water-repellent, while Aero and Focus are not. A water-repellent finish should not be confused with protection during immersion.
Can I keep valuables dry in the inner pocket?
The pocket is not presented as waterproof storage. Do not rely on it to protect valuables from water. It is available on Flow, Motion and Pulse only.
Can the same cap work for kayaking and SUP?
It can, if the fit works in both your seated and standing positions. Test the brim and closure with your normal kit and choose the construction you find comfortable.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure your head circumference and compare it with the Pro range of 55–61 cm. Then check crown depth, brim position and pressure around the forehead. Use the size guide before ordering, particularly if your measurement falls outside the range.
