What is a 5-panel cap?
A five-panel cap is constructed from five main fabric sections. The familiar camp-style version often has a flatter front and a more relaxed outline, but the panel count alone does not define that shape. A raised A-frame can also use five panels.
To understand a model, look at the front, side and back rather than counting only the visible seams in one photograph. Reinforcement, fabric and how the panels are cut all affect the way the finished cap sits.

Pack and care with the fabric in mind
Do not assume a five-panel cap is foldable. The fact that it uses five panels says nothing about whether its brim should be bent or compressed in a bag. Store it with enough space to preserve the shape.
